Institute for Design Led Entrepreneurship (IfDE) was started by a group of people who are passionate about creating a true impact in the society. We plan to do this using a holistic approach through design and entrepreneurship training. IfDE, with its pillars of design & entrepreneurship education, design futures and innovation lab and an early stage accelerator (to be setup at a later date) is well poised to plug gaps in the startup ecosystem and the traditional education system.

“Our mission Centred on forward thinking, design-led entrepreneurship training and research to create the next wave of successful, responsible entrepreneurs and designers, to establish and manage successful, sustainable and fulfilling businesses”.

Our Approach

IfDE’s educational approach is upon the ‘Enterprising Person / Entrepreneurial Mindset’ (displaying a number of behavioural and attitudinal attributes commonly associated with the individual) in a business, social or personal context.

IfDE promotes “design” in creating innovative products and services, businesses and organizations through design-led entrepreneurial education based on six principles:

  • Problem definition
  • Business acumen
  • Strategic foresight
  • Business model innovation
  • User behaviour/design
  • Personality & team development

Our courses are conducted on the weekends ( Saturday and Sunday ) to adapt with our students current college timings and/or work commitments.

Teaching Framework

At IfDE, students will be trained through a rigorous experiential studio-based framework that combines theoretical rigour with practical applicability. We have applied various pedagogical guides to create the maximum learning impact through a ‘learning by doing’ approach such as but not limited to

Case-based learning

Derive conclusions from data

Collaborative learning

Learn from one another in small groups

Experiential Learning

Develop skills through direct action, experience, and reflection

Project-based learning

Work on multi-faceted and complex projects as the primary deliverable in the course.

At the end of IfDE courses, we are certain that our students will become strategic thinkers and makers, with a high level of design skills, strong industry insights and be able to scale fast and successfully.

Meet our Mentors

Why does this matter?

At IfDE, we hope to address two gaps

  • Our education system
  • Startup mentoring system

Our Education System:

Reports from HRD ministry indicate that India has 6,214 engineering and technology institutions which are enrolling 2.9 million students. Around 1.5 million engineers are released into the job market every year.  While the global needs for talent are changing and the workplace is constantly under flux, it is extremely difficult for educational institutions to catch up, being locked in legacy structures, missions and curricula. Hundreds of thousands of graduates are exiting the college funnel every year to end up in the unemployment pool. Meanwhile, CEO’s and HR heads of big companies and startups alike are struggling to find the right talent. At IfDE, we believe that mastering 21st-century skills sets provided in our courses will allow students to become employment ready.

Startup Mentoring:

On the other hand, according to Gallup, while more than 60 percent of India’s population possess personality traits “critical for success as an entrepreneur”, few actually start or want to start, their own businesses. The Indian government is actively supporting entrepreneurship through initiatives such as Make in India, Startup India, and Digital India. But trends on the ground tell a different story. Worldwide, 60% of youth want to start their own business but 90% of startups fail within the first 5 years of operation. To be successful in this new and emerging ecosystem, you can take the high-risk path and start your own startup or gain an impactful position within existing startups, especially if you have product development capabilities.

IfDE is positioning itself right in the center of these two gaps. With a modern, well-informed curriculum, a pedagogical system of proven value and people with extremely diverse experience and background, IfDE’s vision is to create responsible design-led “entrepreneurs”, and impact the society and economy for the long run.

Investing ahead of the curve makes sense when we know what the curve is. With rapid digital transformation, there’s a lot of exploration and understanding to accomplish before the curve starts to take shape. IfDE’s programs will broaden how you see reality, in terms of alternatives, in terms of possibilities, in terms of creating a preferred future.

“You attract the right opportunities when you have a sense of who you are”
IfDE’s goal, over and above all else is to propagate the notion of doing good while doing well
Our team has experimented and worked around our courses to develop these mindsets in our participants

Entrepreneurial Mindset

Innovation Mindset

Design Thinking Mindset

Empathetic Research Mindset.
